12:02 pm - Foreign Plates on Canadian Cars
Ok so I'm a self-professed eurotrash.

1. Anyone knows about the legality of putting up used European license plate on vehicles here in Canada? I've seen quite a few of these in Québec, in particular. Some even have the European plate mounted along side with the Québec plate at the rear. What about here in Alberta where only the rear license plate is required? Would this be treated as a vanity plate if mounted on the front?

2. Where's a good place to get them besides ebay? Perhaps places to look locally? I may consider plates from other regions of the world if they look cool. Perhaps Chinese plates? How much do I expect to pay?

3. What's your take on putting foreign plates on Canadian cars? Stupid idea? Cool? Ricey?

Went to register my jeep right afterwork. My sister was having her car's ownership fully transfered to her so she's gonna need a new plate as well. We went together so we can get similar plate and it would be easy to remember.

The numbers that were available were between 507 and 525 following the particular three alphabetic digits. I sounded out each one of the numbers and picked 524 and 513.

"513" is an easy number to remember because of my Dad's birthday.

"524" when sounded out in Cantonese: 五二四 /m3 ji6 sei3/ sounds like 唔易死 /m4 ji6 sei2/ (not easy to die, or too tough to die). Usually it's pretty hard to pick a number starting with 5 because 五 and consequently 唔 is a negation and there is a few that would work.

This is a list of negative plates:
507: 五零七 /m3 ling4 tsVi1/ -> 唔擰得 /m4 ling2/4 dVk1/ (can't twist/turn)
518: 五一八 /m3 jVt1 bat3/ -> 唔得發 /m4 dVk1 fat3/ (can't get rich)
520: 五二零 /m3 ji6 ling4/ -> 唔易擰 /m4 ji6 ling2/4/ (not easy to twist/turn)
521: 五二一 /m3 ji6 jVt1/ -> 唔易得 /m4 ji6 dVk1/ (not easy to get)
523: 五二三 /m3 ji6 sam1/ -> 唔易生 /m4 ji6 san2/ (not easy to give birth)
527: 五二七 /m3 ji6 tsVt1/ -> 唔易得 /m4 ji6 dVk1/ (not easy to get)
528: 五二八 /m3 ji6 bat3/ -> 唔易發 /m4 ji6 fat3/ (not easy to get rich)

541: 五四一 /m3 sei3 jVt1/ -> 唔死得 /m4 sei2 dVk1/ (can't die)
544: 五四四 /m3 sei3 jVt1/ -> 唔使死 /m4 sVi2 sei2/ (don't have to die)
547: 五四七 /m3 sei3 tsVt1/ -> 唔死得 /m4 sei2 dVk1/ (can't die)

just called TD Meloche Monnex, they are giving me a non-APEGGA member engineer rate for car insurance. It is only 3.50$ a month difference from the member rate. I'll be getting that until i get my membership. It is still 40 some odd $ per month cheaper than non engineer rate. wohooo!

Went with dad to Home Depot to return a roof shingle gun after lunch before going car shopping. Saw this on the way... (The licence plate has been scrambled)
