09:06 pm - Irony
Yeah, might as well get an entry in about current events. Really it's really ironic what's been happening in the muslim world towards the comments made by the Pope. Like hello!??!?! is that EXACTLY what the point the pope and the quote passage was trying to made? Now they are bombing churches, killing nuns, and calling jihads to protest of a comment that characterised them as a violent bunch.

Get a life people! I'm all for your freedom of speech and rights to protest. But can you at least not be violent about it? The West is now bullied into not making any remarks save Merkel of Germany.

Yeah, religion of peace. This was the chance to prove it and they blew it, literally.

12:34 am - I'm Alive.
Yes, in the truest sense of the word. I've survived a vehicle roll-over.

My jeep is wrecked but I'm ok, not a drop of blood. Just a bruised kneed and sprang fingers. And i'm fine enough to be online, i suppose.

Thank God.

05:43 pm - My Election Blog
This is the first of my election night blog.

The polll in Ontario has just closed about 15 mins ago and i'm watching Rick Mercer report laughing my ass off. The polls here in AB will close in less than 2 hours. I'm anxious to see the live results! Oh yeah, I have my laptop set up in front of the TV and i'm sitting on the sofa watching TV and typing this.

Consistent with Election law, there will be no live results from me until 20h30 MST. However I'll be still blogging live results posted altogether comes 20h30.

08:18 pm - Ipod Jeans
I just saw this report on Ipod Jeans on CTV news. The anchor said, "the jeans are completed with..... and a joystick in the watch pocket". I burst out laughing in the middle of dinner surprise the anchor could say that with a straight face. Luckly my parents had no clue what i was laughing at.

03:59 am - Fyksianess!
Just discovered that my anagram fits Fyksian orthography! All it needs is the little umlaut and take away the middle initials:

Jön Mage is as Fyksian as it comes! Too bad the double last name in the middle is pretty foreign.

Which reminds me.. i shall add this anagram on my website.

06:34 pm - The Monagasque Post rocks!!
Couple months ago I ordered a couple of First Day Covers from Monaco Post, and apparently now I'm on the mailing list!

Today I received a postcard promoting MonacoPhil 2006. Cet evenement philatelique international se rend aux Terrasses de Fontvieille 1er au 3 décembre. What's so special? L'Office des Emission de Timbres-Poste sensibly used two of the commemorative stamps designed for the event for postage on the postcard! I think i'll keep the stamp affixed as is because this pretty much serves as a cover!

That is what the postcard looks like and the postage stamp is pretty much the same ---->

I'm truly impressed. Keep them coming I say!

10:29 pm - (Lamtin) Methodist's Kindergarten (RIP)
Was trying to find out about the kindergarten i went to in HK and hopefully add it to the LJ's list of schools, only to find it has been DISMANTLED. I can't even find info on when that happened.

Methodist's Kindergarten / 藍田循道幼稚園
http://hk.yoshioris.com/school.asp?cx=855

After a bit of googling, I've found a similar kindergarten in a district near by, I suspect this is where it was relocated. It seems the school emblem hasn't changed for 20 years even though the uniform looks very different. I'll try to email the school and find out.
http://www.methodist.org.hk/ki_web/ki.html

The day care centre I used to go is still there at the same spot well over 20 years. The name seems to have changed as it's now operated under the premise of the Lutheran. The name used to include the Finnish Evagelical Lutheran Mission / 路德會芬蘭差會. So it wasn't that far off. That's how i got my fascination with Finland I guess.
Evangelical Lutheran Church - Hong Kong (ELCHK) Ling On Child Care Centre / 靈安幼兒中心
No website for this center, not surprisingly. Some pictures and history of the centre in here: http://www.elchk.org.hk/service/child_ser.htm

09:01 pm - Anagram!
I have come up with my very own anagram, in case i need to write a book or something.

Jon S.-W. Mage

Now adding the letters of my real middle name:
Jon Schwinn-Wug Mage
Pretty, Swiss/German looking isn't it?

As such I have now trademarked it. :P

05:34 pm - In Conversation with Mark MacGillivray
Called the Calgary Centre-North Green Party of Canada candidate Mark MacGillivray just after lunch to inquire some of the issues in this upcoming election. I do want to at least meet my candidate before I put up a lawn sign to endorse him right? I have narrowed down to the NDP and the Greens but I was leaning more towards the Greens since I feel I kinda owe them a vote last year. I figure no party will win a seat here in Calgary except the Conservatives and by voting Green I'm putting money in their pocket to foster democratic diversity and let them put green pressure for ottawa.

http://www.greenparty.ca / http://www.partivert.ca
http://www.markmacgillivray.ca/

I regret i didn't record the coversation and i could only jot down some key words and notes. I, however, had questions typed out in front of me and basically read from a rehearsed script. I can't guarantee the full accurancy of his response as I just typed from memory. I do wish this is representative of his response and if Mr. MacGillivray do happen to read this I do invite him to email a more elaborate response.

I: We all know the Greens and their focus on environmental issues, which is great, but what is your party's stand on education, health care, ... (interrupted by Mark)
Mark (paraphased): Mark pointed out that education and health care are connected to the environment, for example. Mark then points out an example regarding Calgary's first smog day this year and its relation to asthma. A cleaner environment will leads to a lower health care spending. Mark points out that the Green Party focus its education and health care agenda on prevention while maintaining Canada's current universal health care system. Mark mentioned about a tax for junk food to lower obessity, an allowance or tax credit for healthclub membership. As such, it would allow a fiscally conservative budget.
I: So a focus on prevention then.
Mark (paraphased): Yes.

I: Calgary, and Alberta for that matter, base so much of their economy on oil revenue, how is voting for the Green Party benefitial to this city and this province?
Mark (paraphased): Mark points out that the current 400$ rebate from the Alberta government only puts money back into our pockets but does not create wealth. Mark mentioned about energy efficient housing and reduction of oil and gas premium for export to the US and create jobs where it's needed. Does not mean giving up the existing lifestyle we have.
